Arts Residencies 2011   Asialink

Asia Link     National
Asialink Arts Residency applications are now open and are offered in four areas. The Arts Management residency provides opportunities for Australian arts managers to experience working with an arts organisation in an Asian country for up to four months. Residencies are open to arts managers in the areas of visual arts and crafts, performing arts, literature, multimedia, technical production and festivals. Also available are the Literature Residency, Performing Arts Residency and Visual Arts Residency.

Exhibition Opportunity

Pan Gallery     Melbourne
To promote and support ceramic art on a national level Pan Gallery annually invites Australian ceramic artists living outside Victoria to apply for a gallery hosted exhibition. The successful applicant, chosen on the basis of work being of an innovative and original nature and showing technical and creative merit, will sign a contract with Pan Gallery to undertake a three week exhibition within the first six months of 2011.

The Australia-Japan Foundation invites applications for projects in 2010-11 which support its objectives to: increase understanding in Japan of shared interests with Australia. In 2010-11 funding priority will be given to projects which seek to strengthen Australia's relationship with Japan through professional exchanges, media visits and joint activities in science and technology, youth affairs and the not-for-profit sector.

Port Hacking Potters Group are calling for submissions for the 46th National Pottery Competition and Exhibition. All entries submitted must be the original work of the competitor & must have been made and completed in the twelve months preceding the exhibition.

NETS Victoria invites Victorian exhibiting organisations to apply for support under the Exhibition Development Fund (EDF) grants program, for the development and touring of contemporary art, craft or design exhibitions to metropolitan and regional Victoria and beyond.

Entries are being accepted for Talente 2011, annual international competition for young people involved in craft, design or technology.Talente's aim is to promote young people with a particular manual talent and show something new and exceptional that has been made by hand. Submissions are invited from furniture designer/makers in wood for a forthcoming book by the publishers of Australian Wood Review. The book will showcase the work of Australian and New Zealand studio furniture makers.

Australian Wood Review (AWR)     National
MAXIMISE is a new Australian Wood Review competition that is about making more from less. Entering MAXIMISE is about demonstrating the strength and sustainability of Australian hardwoods, and how clever design coupled with expert timber selection and furniture construction can allow us to use our forest resources more wisely. The challenge is to design and make a piece of furniture, joinery or a decorative object from solid Australian native hardwood.

Sturt Workshop     Mittagong
Sturt Craft Centre invites applications from experienced craft practitioners to the Sturt 2011 Artist - in - Residence program. Residencies occur in the disciplines of ceramics, jewellery, textiles, wood, photography and writing. Four to six residencies occur at Sturt each year. From late 2009, Sturt widened the focus of its residency program to encourage small scale production and individually designed work which will be promoted through Sturt Gallery.

Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG)     Canberra
Canberra Museum and Gallery (CMAG) is calling for proposals from artists to create site-specific works for Gallery 4 on Civic Square, the glass-walled exhibition space at the CMAG main entrance, which is accessible for viewing twenty-four hours a day. Fully realised proposals for works of art are welcome from artists based in the Canberra region who are not currently engaged in formal study. Limited funds and equipment will be available for installation.

The awards encourage and stimulate excellence in this sphere, providing cultural exchange opportunities for Indigenous artists from around Australia and regional Victoria. This biennale award exhibition surveys current Indigenous ceramic art practise, demonstrates current developments in the field including contemporary and traditional works.

The Marketing Grant for NSW Artists has been initiated by NAVA with funds made available from Arts NSW. Janet Holmes à Court Artists' Grant

The Janet Holmes à Court Artists' Grant is designed to provide financial assistance to professional artists for the public presentation of their work. This grant provides assistance towards the costs of public presentation of visual arts, craft and design. This can include, but is not limited to, framing, media releases, media photographs, advertising, space rental, installation costs, promotional printing, mail outs, documentation, freight, travel, equipment rental, insurance, technical assistance and opening costs.

Tom Malone Prize

The Tom Malone Prize is an annual acquisitive prize open to glass artists throughout Australia. The Prize provides an opportunity for artists working in Australia to showcase and be recognised for their work nationally.
